Pennacle's Pen on Fire Writing Competition and Workshop 2025

The 6th edition of Pennacle's Pen on Fire Writing Competition and Workshop is open for entry. This program is designed to help writers attain mastery and profit from their skills. The edition, they are giving a 200,000 NGN cash reward to one winner, and exclusive publication opportunities to 2 top picks.

This is a 2-stage writing contest, involving an elimination round. Upon completion of all registrations, the first stage begins. All participants will receive a short story prompt to write on, with all necessary details such as guidelines, marking criteria, and submission rules.

After submissions, your entry will be assessed and graded, and only the top 10 participants will move on to the second and final stage of the contest.

By the end of the final stage, the winner and top 2 will be selected and announced.

All participants however, will partake in the workshop from start to completion. 

This 6th edition, they are only holding space for 50 participants. Please, only sign up if you are ready to compete, and if you really want to learn the secrets of delectable short stories, and how to write and sell them.

We collect a one-time entry fee of 4,000 NGN. Registration fee is final and non-refundable However, send us an email at admin@thepennacle.com if you believe you have a special situation that we should consider.

2. Eligibility

You must be 15 years or older as of January 2025, and Nigerian. Aspiring or experienced writers are welcome, however published writers are not eligible. See here to learn about who we consider a published writer.

3. Registration Process
