About Pawners Paper
Pawners Paper is a literary magazine that is committed to bridging the gaps between literary creatives, their works, and their audience. We firmly believe in the importance of preserving and promoting the historical significance and imagery held in literary works, as well as the connections they forge within various communities, races, ideologies, perspectives, and cultures.
With this enthusiasm, we have published poems, short stories, and articles from writers worldwide, aiming to expand our audience for broader outreach and promotion.

About Pawners Paper's Maiden Spoken Words and Poetry Contest 1.0 2024
The Spoken Words and Poetry Contest 1.0 2024 marks the maiden edition of an annual literary competition organized by Pawners Paper with the sole purpose of rewarding writers and other creatives for their outstanding brilliance, creativity, and hard work exerted in their different forms of knowledge production.
Hence, we seek works that showcase creativity, inspire expansive imaginations, and align with the designated themes for each category.
The contest is open to two genres: Spoken Word and Poetry. For each category, interested persons are to follow the submission guidelines below.

Eligibility Requirements
• The contest is open to any poets or spoken word artists around the world
• Follow Pawners Paper Instagram page "@pawnerspapermag"
• Subscribe to Pawners Paper YouTube channel "Pawners Paper Mag"
Submission Guidelines
The entries for both categories should be submitted to pawnerspaper@gmail.com before the deadline.
For Spoken Word:
- Only one entry per artist may be submitted.
- The entries must be submitted as an attachment in MP4 format, and the language must be English
- The entries must be original and previously unpublished
- Include your bio and the title of your entry in the body of the mail
- The subject of the mail must be "Maiden Edition Spoken Word Contest 1.0"
- AI entries are prohibited. Entrants are advised to be as creative as possible in their videos.
For Poetry:
- Only one entry per writer may be submitted.
- Poems must be original and previously unpublished, 39 lines or less, and written in English.
- Entries must be submitted as MS Doc or PDF attachments.
- Include your bio and the title of your entry in the body of the mail
- The subject of the mail must be "Maiden Edition Poetry Contest 1.0"
- AI-written entries are prohibited
Copyright
— We shall have the rights to publish the works of the winning entries. However, the entrants shall retain the exclusive copyrights to the works.
—Entrants are to ensure that they hold the copyrights to their respective entries. Plagiarized works are hereby prohibited. We will not be held liable for any copyright infringement resulting from the entrants.
Timescale
- The deadline for submission is January 30, 2024.
- The shortlist will be released on February 12, 2024.
- The winners will be announced on February 22, 2024
