The Edinburgh Award for Flash Fiction 2024 is open to writers for submissions. £2,000 prize for writers worldwide and stories on any topic up to 250 words.

Golden Hare Award £500
Publication is offered to authors of the top twenty stories (or more) in our next anthology.
£7 entry fee per story.

Free entry is offered to anyone living in Scotland who receives, or has a member of their immediate family who receives, any form of income support, carers allowance or universal credit. You must provide avidence of this support with your application.
First prize £2,000
The flash fiction competition is open for entries from 1 June to 31 August
Use the same form to enter the main competition, the Golden Hare Award and the Write Mango Awards. All stories entered are considered for the top prize of £2,000

Your story can be on any topic. It does not have to be about Scotland.
Make sure your story is 250 words or fewer, excluding the title. If it is one word over the limit it will be disqualified.
Your story should not have been previously published, online or in print.
You may enter the same story in other competitions at the same time but if the story is selected for publication or a prize let us know so that we may withdraw it from our competition.
The flash fiction competition is open to writers worldwide and includes prizes of £2,000 1st, £300 2nd and £150 3rd. The Golden Hare Award is an additional award for writers resident in Scotland and carries a prize of £500.
The winner of the Golden Hare Award cannot have previously won any other Story Award prize.
Make sure your name does not appear anywhere in your story document.
