Omega Sci-Fi's 2023 The Roswell Award & New Suns Climate Fiction Award

The Omega Sci-Fi Awards are proud to accept entries for The Roswell Award and the New Suns Climate Fiction Award international short science fiction story competitions from writers age 17 and older. 

For The Roswell Award, we are seeking stories on diverse topics that explore and connect themes such as social justice, feminism, identity, inequity, environmental sustainability, ethics, and technology.

Announcing new prize, New Suns Climate Fiction Award, for original short science fiction that reimagines new ways of living and depicts humanity exploring and overcoming today's climate and biodiversity crises. 

Deadline: Accepting submissions from: 

September 29, 2022 - December 19, 2022

Note: Finalists and Honorable Mentions will be

announced in April 2023, and our Culminating Event will be on Saturday, May 20, 2023. Writers may submit up to one (1) story between 500 minimum and 1,500 words maximum to either our general sci-fi

Selected finalists will be chosen to have their stories read in their honor by celebrity guests during the May 2023 Culminating Event.

Prizes For Omega Sci-Fi's 2023 The Roswell Award & New Suns Climate Fiction Award

First, Second, and Third place Roswell Award winners will receive $500, $250, and $100 USD cash prizes.

The First place Roswell Award winner will receive access to the UCLA Extension Writers’ Program sponsored 10-week or shorter online course.

The winner of the New Suns Climate Fiction Award will receive a $500 USD cash prize.
