Everyone hopes to have a healthy relationship, one that they can be confident in to generate into something more bigger or purposeful. However, despite the intention of having a healthy relationship, it doesn't always result that way. Some relationship degenerate into a detrimental relationship.
As a result, we shall explain two factors that may lead to detrimental relationship and some characteristics of an unhealthy relationship.
What is Detrimental Relationship
Detrimental relationship, also know as harmful relationship is a type of relationship that could lead to harm of the person involved. This may be physical or psychological depending on the situations. There are some factors that contribute to a detrimental relationship.
However, for the essence of this article, we will only focus on the two factors that contribute to detrimental relationship.

1. Aggressive Behaviour
Being violent or aggressive could lead to physical or emotional harm or impairment, and as such may generate from verbal abuse to being more physical. Once parties in a relationship start being physical violent, there is bound to be some disassociation between both parties.
This factor that contribute to a detrimental relationship could also lead to bad communication. Communication between parties in a relationship is always regarded sacrosanct as it brings more connection in respect of feelings, emotions, understanding of each other and other basic things that are meant to liven and make the relationship fruitful.
Many breakups and relationship problems are resuscitated by reduction in or lack of communication. Be it positive or negative, it can balance the connection required in a relationship. Also, it can eradicate the possibility of being emotionally distant in a relationship.

2. Infidelity
The second of the two factors that contribute to a detrimental relationship is infidelity. Infidelity can be defined as unfaithfulness in a marriage or an intimate relationship: practice or instance of having a sexual or romantic affair with someone other than one's spouse, without the consent of the spouse.
In a more simpler terms, it's an act of having an illicit relationship with another person other than the spouse or partner in a relationship. It can in part be termed betrayal, and as such brings along with it other factors that contribute to a detrimental relationship. They are: lack of trust, lack of communication, dishonesty.
Infidelity can cause also psychological damage, including feelings of rage and betrayal, low sexual and personal confidence, and even post-traumatic stress disorder.
In respect of dishonesty, when partners starts hiding their true intentions and actions, there's tendency for there to be lack of trust, doubt, anger and lack of communication. This could in little time, destroy a relationship
