To celebrate and honour the poetic life of Late Vweta Chadwick, Project ASHA calls for female poets to enter the Vweta Chadwick Poetry Prize in honour of Vweta Chadwick, themed - INVISIBLE DISABILITY.
The VCPP will highlight the role of women in the poetry space with a focus to encourage female poets who like Vweta found diverse ways of amplifying their voices for social causes, for fun and creativity, and many other reasons dear to them. See her works on (www.vweta.com).

Rules: General
The competition is open to FEMALES only; Aged 16 – 20: Senior High School Girls – Junior Category.
Aged 18 – 25: Tertiary Institution females – Senior Category.
Entries from Persons With Disabilities are welcome.(entries are welcomed from any part of Nigeria)
The closing date for SUBMISSION is midnight (WAT time), 16 April, 2022.
All entrants can submit a maximum of 2 entries(optional). All entries will be considered anonymously by the judges.
Entries will not be returned, so please keep a copy.
Under no circumstances can alterations be made to poems once entered.
Online entries can be made via email submission to the email address provided or via the google form. Entrants must not submit on both platforms.
Only email confirmation of receipt is available. Please ensure you send the correct version.
The competition organisers reserve the right to change the judging panel without notice and not to award prizes if, in the judges’ opinion, such an action is justified.
The judges read all the entries; their decision is final. Neither the judges nor Team ASHA staff will enter into any correspondence.
All entrants must fill the google form before or after submission. Failure to do so will lead to disqualification.
Rules: Poems
All entries are judged anonymously and the poet’s name must not appear on the poem itself.
All entries must be a single word document attached to your submission email. please start each poem on the document on a fresh page.
All poems must have a title and must not exceed 40 lines in length (excluding title). Entries MUST be centered around the theme: INVISIBLE DISABILITY (discussing topics and/or solutions to women’s rights issues, etc.)
Poems must be in English.
Poems MUST be the entrant’s original work.
Entries must not have been published, self-published, published on a website or made public on social media, broadcast or featured among the winners in another competition before 31 March 2022.
Senior category entrants should prepare at most 2 poems apart from their entry poems for the final contest.
Entries must be uploaded as a single PDF or word document

Both entries in a submission are FREE.
Rules: Winners
Junior Prizewinners will be notified by the end of April 2022. Senior category qualifiers will be notified by the end of April and invited to a final competition event in May 2022. All winners will be expected to provide a biography and photograph. Details on venue( physical or virtual will be communicated)
All entrants who provide a valid email address will be notified about the outcome of their entry by the end of April 2022.
The copyright of each poem remains with the author. However, authors of the winning poems, by entering the competition, grant Project ASHA the right in perpetuity to publish and/or broadcast their poem. Use of the poems elsewhere for one year from March 2022 is subject to permission from Project ASHA.
