The sponsors of the Yale Drama prize 2021 are Yale University Press and Yale Repertory Theatre.

Guidelines For Submission To The Yale Drama Series
Interested applicants are advised to follow the submission guidelines before submitting to the Yale drama prize.
The following guidelines are provided by the organizers:
Submissions must be original, unpublished full-length plays written in English, with a minimum of 65 pages.
Translations, musicals, adaptations and children’s plays are not accepted. Plays that have been professionally produced or published are not eligible.
Playwrights may submit only one manuscript

The winning play will be selected by the series’ current judge, Paula Vogel.

The winner of the Yale drama prize will be awarded the David Charles Horn Prize of $10,000, publication of his/her manuscript by Yale University Press, and a staged reading at Lincoln Center’s Claire Tow Theater

The Yale drama series 2021 winner is Rachel Lynett’s Apologies to Lorraine Hansberry (You Too August Wilson)
“[A] taut examination of the impact of racism in a future African American state after the next Civil War in America…. With a metatheatrical playfulness and a direct inclusion of actors and audience alike, Rachel Lynett’s play exposes the many layers to the notion of race in order to awaken us,” said judge Paula Vogel, who chose Apologies to Lorraine Hansberry from over 2,000 submissions from 60 countries
