On April 30th, 2021, a longlist for the 2021 International Booker's Prize was released, featuring names of 13 authors for the award prize. Two African authors were however, featured in the list; David Diop and Thiongo'o o.

The International Booker's Prize is a book award started in 2004 to complement the the Man Booker's Prize and it's open to a single book translated into English from a foreign language and published in the United Kingdom or Ireland.
The winner for the book prize however gets conferred with a cash award of £50,000 for the winning title and it's to be shared equally between author and translator.
