"Existence Beneath Heaven" A Poem By Odebayo Tayo — Pawners Paper

An existence of bones Locked inside fleshes of soil Has her eyes opened to Ranges beyond her means.

In "Existence Beneath Heaven", the poem travel on the edges of "unsolved" questions centred on the existence of men. The poem likens the travails of men to "The battle of life-and-death, Lives pit against strengths" with "Races of covetous urges" in his quest for wealth and power . He concludes, questioning the mystery behind man's mortaliy—"Is it because we can't think like heaven, Or we're suppressed in cloth of flesh?" leaving every reader to ponder on and resolve like a god.

The poet, Odebayo, gives a piece with enthralling words that capture the mind, feeds it a crumb and enslave it to crave more.

EXISTENCE BENEATH HEAVEN

An existence  of  bones

Locked inside fleshes of soil

Has her eyes opened to

Ranges beyond her means.

Each and each time sans break

The battle of life-and-death

Lives pit against strengths

To have power reigned supreme.

A dominating entity

Races of covetous urges

Money the aim of daily enmities

Blood dyed her hands in clot of sin.

Against odds and evens

Unconscious heart in cage of heart

Death to vision of righteousness

Bullying 'n oppressing the weak.

Mortality trails along immorality

Dust the lips shall in the end kiss

Body the recipes of foods to termites

Carcasses "piles of meat"  for the soil. 

Blinded not against sordid deeds

Why are we called mortals- is it

because we can't think like heaven

Or we're suppressed in cloth of flesh?

POET'S BIO

Odebode Tayo hails from Ogbomoso, Oyo state where he attended his both primary and secondary school.

He proceeds further to tertiary institution, University of Ilorin where he studies B. Sc Mathematics. He is an avid reader , poet and lover of art.
