A "Call To Mother Africa" is an ode to Africa relaying the sad happenings, corruption and hunger. The tone of the poem carries the message on a balanced scale, rugged enough to prevent it from tilting to one side than the other.
The Poet, Edet, does give the piece, not for himself, but on behalf of the continent.

A CALL TO MOTHER AFRICA
Hello! Great mother Africa.
I'm one of your sons incase you've forgotten.
I'm calling from your homeland.
Great mother!
Your home is on fire.
Things had fallen apart.
Peace and unity is gone from your home.
Your great pinnacle is turned a mocking stock.
The souls of your loins are bleeding.
But does it mean you can't hear their groaning?
The economy is gone.
It has become a tale of woes.
Industrialization has turned a crime.
Production is a thing of the past.
Importations have become the norm.
Inflation has eaten deep in our treasures.
Our currencies have lost values
As they battle with fluctuations on daily basis.
Oh! I've not told you about our leaders.
Do we even have leaders or tyrants?
Are there still Sankaras in Africa?
Are there still kwamehs in Africa?
Only few of them exist.
But are being hunted because they could open the anus of the Ambassadors of poverty.
We have tyrants in the political chambers.
Whose egos are the mottiffs for clamoring to power.
Who have turned a demi-gods,
That derive pleasure in the blood of the innocent citizens.
Dear great mother,
Is this the same Africa you conceived?
Or should we wait for another to come?
Your loins are scattered abroad.
Like ants in hunt of what to eat.
Battling with humiliation and discrimination.
Your home is almost drowned to the throat.
Rise and deliver her otherwise she will be doomed.
Her soul is aching and bleeding.
If nothing is done now she might die.
